The Blair Witch Project  (1999)

 This is a story about 3 students who find an urban legends. In the woods in (Burkittesville, Maryland) 

about "The Blair Witch" .hence the name of the film. At U.C.A.  Rochester teacher "Phil" explained that this was a film without storyboarding the film was made up in the editing part of it. So this will be hard to dissect with storyboarding in mind. So what I will do, or try is to explain how I think it would be storyboarded.

In the beginning of the film you get introduced to the 3 main characters which are film students trying to find the legend called "The Blair witch" which is in the woods of  (Burkittesville, Maryland).

our first character is  "Heather Donahue" as her self.

With "Heather Donahue"as a character you get a sense of purssistance and determination.because of this. This will be the demise of this character/ actress.

 

 

The next in the line up is "Joshua Leonard"as him self.

"Joshua Leonard" as in the film he plays as the director in "The Blair witch".with this character is eager and self-centred.

The last one in the 3 character line up is "Michael C. William"as he himself in the film "The Blair witch".

This is the final actor in the line up is the cameraman in "The Blair witch" he is eager to get the job done. "Like every camera man".

 

 

 

 

After the introduction of the characters thay set off in to the wood of  (Burkittesville, Maryland). and try to find the legend of  the "Blair witch". after a little struggle with the map they arrive at the woods and everything seems to be normal. They set off into the woods "Heather Donahue" has the map. 4 hours into the journey which should be only two hours. They slowly realise that they are lost and decide to set up camp and continue their journey in the morning. After a protracted sleep by some the cameraman "Michael C. William"splutters out a comment about he had herd some strange things in the night. after discussion about the strange fings they set off to find the "Blair witch" and continue to get lost. Deeper in the woods thay go and have to set up camp again this time in the morning they find some twigs bound in rope.the suspense continues as they get even more lost in the woods. to day they awake and  find that the cameraman "Michael C. William" has disappeared. That following night they here the cameraman screaming out so they investigate and, come up with nothing. a few nights later they find themselves hearing the cameraman screaming again and proceeds to the rescue and find themselves at the house this is where the story turns into the horror. They searched the house top to bottom and keep on hearing the screams of the cameraman. When director "Joshua Leonard" runs into the basement thinking that he can hear the cameraman down there "you are in first person view" you see him full and then "Heather Donahue" runs to his aid and find him standing in the corner. I think this film if it wasn't filmed in first person view/ perspective "And had C G/ budget" it wouldn't have been as dramatic as if filmed in the famous Hollywood style.

 This actress plays an important part in the film.'Tippi' Hedren" you get to feel that this woman is from upper-class society just on her body language alone. We are properly introduced to .'Tippi' Hedren"when we get to see her in the pet shop

This actor turns up in the pet shop and after two lovebirds this is the first time we get introduced to the problem..'Tippi' Hedren"starts to flirt with "Mitch Brenner"

after  "Mitch Brenner" least the pet shop Tippi' Hedren" ask is the pet shop owner to order her some lovebirds. When she picks up the last birds she sets off to find "Mitch Brenner"after a drive from San Francisco to Bodega Bay, this is where

"Mitch Brenner"spends his time away from work.When "Tippi" arrives at "Bodega Bay" she starts to investigate and find out where "Mitch" lives. 'Tippi" after the investigation she finds that she lives across the water and hires a boa to cross it. This is where we get to see our problem which is a bird/ seagull.there isn't a logical reason why the bird wont's to attack 'Tippi". As a audience we get to see more and bizarre ways in the way of bird/ Crows attacks. "Alfred Hitchcock" (the master of suspense) directed this film in such away but the only thing that is dated in this film is a special effects. As a story I don't think that side of the story will ever get old. Round up the film with "Mitch" and 'Tippi" falling in love but "Hitchcock"finished a film in such a way that you don't really understand the  film has finished or not.

Trivia.

"Alfred Hitchcock" makes his appearance in the film in the first seen you see him walking to dogs.

 

This film is loosely based on" Daphne du Maurier's"  story.

"Feels like it was made by a brilliant filmmaker who simply felt challenged by the enormity of the task. In that regard, it's close to 100 percent successful."

3 Act Structure Breakdown…


Act one: introducing the problem

The main character in this storyboard is a gravedigger (Alfred a.k.a. Alf/Alfie) this character applies for a job at the Museum as a janitor. This is the first time we get introduce to the character (Alfred). After successful applicant he finds himself at the janitor's main office. And this is when we get introduced to the second character. And the janitor describes his job which one of them is to catch this mouse. But trying to catch the mouse is a bit harder than he first assumed. The relationship between (Alfred) and the mouse is a love hate relationship “The mouse” he loves to annoy “Alfred” and “Alfred” hates the mouse in a devilish kind of way.



Act Two: Provide Tension

In act two the audience is presented with a solution to catch the mouse and “Alfred “schemes up a devilish way to catch the mouse  with the mousetrap. At night-time “Alfred “lays out some cheese to a mousetrap. But the mouse cunningly takes the cheese without harm. Triggering the mousetrap after the mouse is at a safe distance. With this happening a few more times “Alfred “needs to devise a better mousetrap.

Act Three: Resolve Problem

This is the final attempt to catch the mouse (“Roy” I don't know which way to go with this. I'm thinking of maybe three directions in which this can go).

Direction one

A massive disaster happens. In the way of when he tries to catch the mouse this causes a massive disaster. Maybe the Museum might be left in ruins. One of the pieces showing in the Museum gets destroyed. Or the  Museum crumbles down.

Direction to

He finally catches the mouse and realises the mistake hes done.

Direction free

After a catastrophe in the Museum and not catching the mouse “Alfred” befriends the mouse.

The Logline...

This is a story about a gravedigger named “Alfred “who attempts to catch the mouse. With direction one direction to and direction free

And a lot of mousetraps.

After discussion with Simon and Alex I have narrowed the intro down.while was can do is give the characters background in the beginning but now I think I'm just  give the location of the set in my case the Museum

My character of which was my second slip is a gravedigger menace was hard to work out because I don't know much about grave diggers so I googled grave digger and with these reference images to go by

So now the personality of a gravedigger would be bleak because he has to bury people everybody's all day long so my guess is he would be a moody, character called look even an athletic build because of begin all day

And finally my prop is a mousetrap but with this I'm going to go with a widely Coyote Road Runner kind of feel meaning gravedigger looks up military hardware in a catalogue this gives me the chance to make my storyboard a in a comical kind of way. Like the Road Runner I will be trying to catch the mouse but always failing at the task.I don't mean me i mean the gravedigge.
