Unit 6 Commission

during the presentation brief  we were asked to animate one of three tasks.

1)  To animate the HIV virus and its life-cycle.
2)  To animate the common flu virus and its life-cycle.
3)  To animate the human immune system and what it does.

After the presentation I gave it some Fort in what I want to do.the human immune virus aka human immunodeficiency virus. (HIV) this virus is man's worst enemy causing millions of deaths since it began in (1980-1981) this is when it was first acknowledged by Drs and scientists.

Unit 6 The HIV Virus

HIV is passed from one person to another during unprotected sex (vaginal, anal, or oral sex without a condom) with someone who has HIV.
HIV is passed through contact with blood as in sharing needles (piercing, tattooing or injecting drugs of any kind) or sharing works with a person who has HIV.

This is the HIV Virus

Unit 5 script

My umbrella storyboard.

Scene one.
Billy walks (all cycle) from left to right and goes out of shot. Then comes back in the frame and notices another umbrella. (Which is the mirror)? Billy starts to talk to his reflection thinking that it is a girl. But not realising that it is his reflection.
(Billy gets more frustrated because of no response).

Scene two.
Billy walks (walk cycle) from left to right and goes out of shot. Then comes back in the frame. With some balloons (focus on balloons floating up).
Billy walks (walk cycle) from left to right and goes out of shot. Then comes back in the frame. With some chocolate. With no response. Cut scene.

Scene three.

Unit 5 The blind umbrella biography.

The blind umbrella biography.
Umbrella. “Billy”.

Place of purchase.
The senior citizens winter clothes shop.

Age.
Made in 1993. So that makes him about 19.

Disability. Myopic.
Definition. This disability is of the eyes. It makes the person see objects as a blur.

Umbrella characteristics.
Because of Billy being an adult he has got a good sense of humour and sees things and a positive way.
Because he sees things with a blur and has a funny sense of humour when engaging in conversation he tends to have a laugh and joke. Through boredom Bailey is looking for a friend or girlfriend.

Unit 5

This is the umbrella character sheet
This blacked out version of my umbrella.
This is my coloured version of my umbrella
I was going to go for a truncheon handled umbrella. But I thought a walking stick handled umbrella would give the umbrella character a more defined look in the shape of a had.
And the hook handled umbrella would just be too hard and messy to convey in order posies and hasn't got a facial definition I was looking for.

Unit 5

Here's a few examples of some umbrellas
I especially like the umbrella at the bottom left corner. this umbrella I think has a style all of its own which I like.the top left-hand corner I like to. it's a bit of a game of two halves on one hand you have a adult gesture on the umbrella. and on the other hand you have a young girl holding umbrella.I find this amusing

Final story By Roy Efe

The Mousetrap
By R M Efe

This is a story about a “Alfred” the gravedigger and the mouse that got away.
One afternoon Alfred finished and what seemed to be a long day at the graveyard digging
graves.

He walks in his house and picks up the paper and looked at the jobs section.
And there’s a job about a janitor at the local museum and he applies for it.

A few days further on still digging in the same old graveyard still wishing he had another job.
He finally got the reply from the Museum saying.
“On your request for the job as a janitor at the Museum we are pleased to inform you that he
has the job"

Alfred was over the moon. He thought with his experience as a gravedigger keeping the
graves all tidy and clean, the job at the Museum would be a blast.

On the arrival at the Museum he walks over to the secretary and explains the situation and
asked where the janitor’s office and the secretary explained to him where it is.

He knocks on the janitor's office door and a fact lazy looking man named “peter”
Opens the door and mutters in a croaky voice are you “Alfred” he replies yes.
“Coming sit-down”

“Peter” takes his chair and sits on it . In a formal up right position almost looking down on
“Alfred”.

Right “Peter” says the job you're applied for involves 1 cleaning of the floors and the
exhibits. 2 cleaning of the toilets. 3 emptying the bins. And finally catching the mouse.

“Alfred says “a mouse. “Peter says” yes a mouse. Is that going to be problem? Are you a
vegetarian or anything like that? “Alfred replies” no I ’m not  a veget ari an or got  any
problems with catching the mouse. Good “peter says” And not forgetting this is your uniform
wear it at all times when you're in the Museum.

Write “Alfred “says time to set a mousetrap this should be easy. So “Alfred”  sets the
mousetrap right next to the mouse's whole.

The mouse smells to cheese waft ing in through his “whole which is his home”.
And goes up to the mousetrap and takes the cheese without sending off.

So “Alfred “goes up to the mousetrap to see if he has caught the mouse. “ Err” what's this
“Alfred” says the cheese is gone but no mouse something must be wrong.
Things up of the new way to catch the mouse and “this time I will get him in”.

So he fought off a way to catch the mouse by hanging ropes around the statues and hanging a
weight in the middle of the road which is triggered by the mouse when he grabs the food.
That should work “Alfred “said after a few hours standing around wait ing for the mouse to
come out to grab the food Alfred went to the toilet.

The mouse smells the food again. In comes out of his hole and grabs the cheese and walks
off.

“Alfred “comes back from the toilet  and finds the cheese is gone again “haaaa”. The cheese is
gone again. “Is thi s worki ng” so he goes to check to see if it 's working “rrrrrrrr” the weight
falls onto his hand “Bang”.

After “Alfred’s “and feels a few minutes later he thinks up of the new way to catch the
mouse.

So when “Alfred’s “break comes he decided to look in to a military hardware magazine.
“Hu Hu” . I know I'll do buy this Canon “that should do the trick”. Alfred says.

So when Alfred Cannon comes he decided to rig it the same way with the rope but this time
he put the rope behind the painting the chandelier and bring it to the mousetrap so when the
mouse comes out he would get him.

The mouse can smell something irresistible coming through the whole so decided to
investigate. And walks over and grab the food”Div”.

“Alfred “can’t believe his eyes “the trap is hasn't worked again”. And thinks are no I'll do
upgrade it with rockets.

Something happens to the rockets and they got triggered to fire.

“Bang”

“Alfred “says “oo my God”

“Alfred “witnesses the destruction of the Museum and is so devastated.

“Alfred “says “I give up”

The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project  (1999)

Directors: "Daniel Myrick, Eduardo Sánchez".

This is a story about 3 students who find an urban legends. In the woods in (Burkittesville, Maryland)

about "The Blair Witch" .hence the name of the film. At U.C.A.  Rochester teacher "Phil" explained that this was a film without storyboarding the film was made up in the editing part of it. So this will be hard to dissect with storyboarding in mind. So what I will do, or try is to explain how I think it would be storyboarded.

In the beginning of the film you get introduced to the 3 main characters which are film students trying to find the legend called "The Blair witch" which is in the woods of  (Burkittesville, Maryland).

our first character is  "Heather Donahue" as her self.

With "Heather Donahue"as a character you get a sense of purssistance and determination.because of this. This will be the demise of this character/ actress.

The next in the line up is "Joshua Leonard"as him self.

"Joshua Leonard" as in the film he plays as the director in "The Blair witch".with this character is eager and self-centred.

The last one in the 3 character line up is "Michael C. William"as he himself in the film "The Blair witch".

This is the final actor in the line up is the cameraman in "The Blair witch" he is eager to get the job done. "Like every camera man".

After the introduction of the characters thay set off in to the wood of  (Burkittesville, Maryland). and try to find the legend of  the "Blair witch". after a little struggle with the map they arrive at the woods and everything seems to be normal. They set off into the woods "Heather Donahue" has the map. 4 hours into the journey which should be only two hours. They slowly realise that they are lost and decide to set up camp and continue their journey in the morning. After a protracted sleep by some the cameraman "Michael C. William"splutters out a comment about he had herd some strange things in the night. after discussion about the strange fings they set off to find the "Blair witch" and continue to get lost. Deeper in the woods thay go and have to set up camp again this time in the morning they find some twigs bound in rope.the suspense continues as they get even more lost in the woods. to day they awake and  find that the cameraman "Michael C. William" has disappeared. That following night they here the cameraman screaming out so they investigate and, come up with nothing. a few nights later they find themselves hearing the cameraman screaming again and proceeds to the rescue and find themselves at the house this is where the story turns into the horror. They searched the house top to bottom and keep on hearing the screams of the cameraman. When director "Joshua Leonard" runs into the basement thinking that he can hear the cameraman down there "you are in first person view" you see him full and then "Heather Donahue" runs to his aid and find him standing in the corner. I think this film if it wasn't filmed in first person view/ perspective "And had C G/ budget" it wouldn't have been as dramatic as if filmed in the famous Hollywood style.

Big Picture Big Sound. (July 14, 2007)
"The three actors manage not only to capture some beautiful footage but also to spout believable and consistent dialog without digressing into the standard Scream pop culture references."

IGN DVD (October 26, 2010).
"A brilliant marketing campaign, to be sure, but this Z-grade con of a film offers no payoff for audiences looking to be scared".

Chicago Reader (September 24, 2007)
"What gives the film much of its force and its mounting sense of queasy uncertainty is its narrative method, which ensures that we know no more about the proceedings than the characters do."

The Birds

The Birds USA, "1963"
 Director: Alfred Hitchcock

These are the actors/actresses that appear in the film the birds.

    "Tippi Hedren "
As
Melanie Daniels (as 'Tippi' Hedren)
This actress plays an important part in the film.'Tippi' Hedren" you get to feel that this woman is from upper-class society just on her body language alone. We are properly introduced to .'Tippi' Hedren"when we get to see her in the pet shop

  "Rod Taylor"

 As

"Mitch Brenner"

This actor turns up in the pet shop and after two lovebirds this is the first time we get introduced to the problem..'Tippi' Hedren"starts to flirt with "Mitch Brenner"

after  "Mitch Brenner" least the pet shop Tippi' Hedren" ask is the pet shop owner to order her some lovebirds. When she picks up the last birds she sets off to find "Mitch Brenner"after a drive from San Francisco to Bodega Bay, this is where

"Mitch Brenner"spends his time away from work. When "Tippi" arrives at "Bodega Bay" she starts to investigate and find out where "Mitch" lives. 'Tippi" after the investigation she finds that she lives across the water and hires a boa to cross it. This is where we get to see our problem which is a bird/ seagull.there isn't a logical reason why the bird wont's to attack 'Tippi". As a audience we get to see more and bizarre ways in the way of bird/ Crows attacks. "Alfred Hitchcock" (the master of suspense) directed this film in such away but the only thing that is dated in this film is a special effects. As a story I don't think that side of the story will ever get old. Round up the film with "Mitch" and 'Tippi" falling in love but "Hitchcock"finished a film in such a way that you don't really understand the  film has finished or not.

Trivia.

"Alfred Hitchcock" makes his appearance in the film in the first seen you see him walking to dogs.

This film is loosely based on" Daphne du Maurier's"  story.

"Feels like it was made by a brilliant filmmaker who simply felt challenged by the enormity of the task. In that regard, it's close to 100 percent successful."

Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) September 26, 2007
"Technically, the best Hitchcock ever...and one of the most nail-biting".

August 1, 2005

Video-Reviewmaster.com
"Underestimated at the time, this is Hitchcok's last undisputed masterpiece, and a more complex film than Psycho".

The Mouse Trape By Roy Efe

3 Act Structure Breakdown…

Act one: introducing the problem

The main character in this storyboard is a gravedigger (Alfred a.k.a. Alf/Alfie) this character applies for a job at the Museum as a janitor. This is the first time we get introduce to the character (Alfred). After successful applicant he finds himself at the janitor's main office. And this is when we get introduced to the second character. And the janitor describes his job which one of them is to catch this mouse. But trying to catch the mouse is a bit harder than he first assumed. The relationship between (Alfred) and the mouse is a love hate relationship “The mouse” he loves to annoy “Alfred” and “Alfred” hates the mouse in a devilish kind of way.

Act Two: Provide Tension

In act two the audience is presented with a solution to catch the mouse and “Alfred “schemes up a devilish way to catch the mouse  with the mousetrap. At night-time “Alfred “lays out some cheese to a mousetrap. But the mouse cunningly takes the cheese without harm. Triggering the mousetrap after the mouse is at a safe distance. With this happening a few more times “Alfred “needs to devise a better mousetrap.

Act Three: Resolve Problem

This is the final attempt to catch the mouse (“Roy” I don't know which way to go with this. I'm thinking of maybe three directions in which this can go).

Direction one

A massive disaster happens. In the way of when he tries to catch the mouse this causes a massive disaster. Maybe the Museum might be left in ruins. One of the pieces showing in the Museum gets destroyed. Or the  Museum crumbles down.

Direction to

He finally catches the mouse and realises the mistake hes done.

Direction free

After a catastrophe in the Museum and not catching the mouse “Alfred” befriends the mouse.

The Logline...

This is a story about a gravedigger named “Alfred “who attempts to catch the mouse. With direction one direction to and direction free

The Premise...

This is the story of a man named “Alfred “who attempts to catch the mouse

And a lot of mousetraps.

Unit 4

What I'm currently gong capture from this is the outrageous traps to Capture Road Runner and the catastrophic failures

Unit 4

After discussion with Simon and Alex I have narrowed the intro down.while was can do is give the characters background in the beginning but now I think I'm just  give the location of the set in my case the Museum
Here are some reference images
this is the Natural History Museum
this was one of the slips was given was at the Natural History Museum it was a museum.
this can't be changed because it's the environment set
the only thing I can changes the style and location of the set

My character of which was my second slip is a gravedigger menace was hard to work out because I don't know much about grave diggers so I googled grave digger and with these reference images to go by
So now the personality of a gravedigger would be bleak because he has to bury people everybody's all day long so my guess is he would be a moody, character called look even an athletic build because of begin all day

And finally my prop is a mousetrap but with this I'm going to go with a widely Coyote Road Runner kind of feel meaning gravedigger looks up military hardware in a catalogue this gives me the chance to make my storyboard a in a comical kind of way. Like the Road Runner I will be trying to catch the mouse but always failing at the task.I don't mean me i mean the gravedigge.

The Cutting Edge: Psycho,

Psycho, Dir. Alfred Hitchcock, 1960. where do I start with this film firstly what caught my attention was the music. The famous intro which has been remixed by the famous rapper "Busta rhymes". the film Psycho is a complete switch from the film "rope"the camera in "rope" it has want continuous camera shot with the exception of seeing changes which was to change the film. Psycho on the hand has multiple camera shots. Close-up shots wide-angle face-to-face shots. which gives you the viewer intimate experience with the actor. The actor/character "Anthony Perkins" he plays the character of "Norman Bates"which plays extremely well.
If the name psycho which is that name of the filmis named after this character because he's a psychopath with a split personality one of his mother which is dead which is the dominant frame of mind compared to the Norman Bates personality which is the rational one. the conflict between these two personalities brings us to a first murder scene which is the framers shower scene, With the camera prospective you are in the shower looking through the shower curtain and black shadow creeping towards the the shower with  actress
"Janet Leigh" who plays "Marion Crane"

This scene is most remembered from the film. the story line of the film is pretty complicated but with the camera effects makes extremely interested. you find"Janet Leigh" who plays "Marion Crane" being handed some money which gives this character the excuse to run away. which Leeds evidentially to death the second main part of the film the middle you find out the relationship between the mother played by Anthony Perkins
and a string of more deaths. the ending you find yourself in the police station where Anthony Perkins has been captured and confesses to the murders and int he police station you find Anthony Perkins feeling the chair in a straitjacket and then a close-up of his face and a clever camera trick we see a skeleton of the mother and Anthony Perkins face combines this is and very good camera trick

Unit 4 The Cutting Edge

The Cutting Edge:
Rope, Dir.Alfred Hitchcock,
1948

Alfred Hitchcock for me is one of the best directors of all time. One of my all-time favourite is “The birds”. Which Alfred Hitchcock also directed.
The film about to dissect is called “Rope”.
In the beginning seen of the film you get a view of a downtown apartment block. You hear a man screen and get to witness the aftermath of a murder. And then a close-up shot of the rope. Hence the name of the film “Rope”. Once this happens you are gripped by a urge to find out what as happens and why is it happened. When the camera zooms out of the shot from the rope you find our first two characters/actors. The main actor/character is
John Dall AKA Wyndham Brandon

The second character/actor is
Farley Granger AKA  "Philip Morgan"
With this character/actor in the beginning of the film you begin to see this actor breakdown in the way of being nervous and on edge and  "Brandon's" always correcting him to stay calm and collective.
which are also lovers in the film which is'nt obviouse in the film with actor.Brandon
you find out straightaway that he is the brains of the operation/murder with the actors boldness and ruthlessness

The film rope has a begining which is the murder the second sceneis the arrival of the guests including
"James Stewart" AKA "Rupert Cadell".
this character/actor appears in the middle of the film. "James Stewart"
at the end of the film he finally figures them out. At the end of the film he confronts to actors "Brandon" and "Morgan" and dissects them in a "Colombo" Kind of way breaking them down individuallyto one of them confesses to the murder.
The set of the film is an apartment with a big window at the back of the scene. with a fixed camera. here is not a lot of cut scenes in this film actually there is none. This is due to Alfred Hitchcock' editing there is one continuous camera shot. This gives an intense feeling of focus and awareness.
